Milan Shopping

Posted by admin | Cheap Milan Travel |

Many tourists just go to Milan for the shopping. Now, since shopping in Milan is hardly cheap, we’re going to drop that word from this article although we will try to offer some good value for money options. Here are some of our tips related to shopping in Milan:

1. If one is searching for designer brands shops then one can find many of them around Via Montenapoleone, Via Spiga and Via Sant’Andrea. For window shopping the streets around the Doumo would be a good choice.

2. Other great shopping areas would be Corso Buenos Aires and Corso Vittorio Emanuele (the latter near Piazza Duomo). Corso Buenos Aires is actually the largest shopping street in the city and one of the largest in Europe. One can also find plenty of items on sale there during July and August and right after Christmas. There are plenty of items to see and buy for teenagers as well.

3. If you’re looking for shops specializing in leather, some good options would be the Brera district of Milan which is home to several quality leather shops offering clothes, shoes, purses, etc. and the “Silvia” store in Corso di Porta Ticinese.

4. Working hours for most fashion stores are from 10 in the morning to 7 or 7:30 in the evening. On Sundays opening time may be postponed by one or two hours and on Mondays stores might be closed in the morning but will be opened in the afternoon.

5. For good shopping deals your best bet is outlet shopping. There are plenty of great outlets both inside the city of Milan and nearby. Two of the best outlets are Serravalle and Salvagente.

Serravale is a design outlet offering more than 180 brands at discounted prices. The only downside to it is that it is outside Milan but it can be easily reached nonetheless. You can get there by car using the A7 Milan – Genoa highway and taking the Serravalle Scrivia exit, by train using the Milan – Genoa line and getting down at the Arquata Scrivia station or by bus from Milan. There’s a shuttle bus service from Milan to Serravale. It runs daily and one can inquire about it by using the contact details below.

At Serravale prices are discounted from 30% up. On top of that, one can find better deals during the sale season which occurs from July and August.

Salvagente is a design outlet located in Milan. It is smaller than Serravale and it is a good option if one can’t be bothered to take the trip to reach Serravale.

There’s also a good designer outlet outside of Milan, in Switzerland, called Foxtown. It is about 90 minutes away and can be easily reached from Milan through various transportation methods. One can also reach it from Bergamo’s Orio al Serio airport. There’s also a beauty center, a couple of bars and a casino in Foxtown. Discounts run from 30% upwards.
